Originally from the Centre of France (Corrèze), the first generation of the family to go into wine was represented by Jean-Baptiste Brunot . He was one of the pioneers in direct sales to individual clients at the end of the 19th century (Northern France, Belgium and Switzerland). He also made their first purchase of a wine growing property in Saint-Emilion.
The second generation represented by Mr Albert Brunot, continued to extend the vineyard property in Saint-Emilion. He particularly impressed customers with his friendless, generosity and constant quest for quality.
Jean-Baptiste Brunot, who made up the third generation, took over the family business after studying medicine and oenology in Bordeaux. He enlarged the vineyard in 1970, buying Château Tour de Grenet, located in the Lussac St-Emilion area.
In 1978, Mr and Mrs Brunot bought Château Piganeau in Saint-Emilion.
Then, in 1984, Mrs Brunot Marie-Paule took over the family property of Château Maledan, located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyard region.
Since 1997, their son Vincent, who studied oenology and agriculture, has brought his skills to the family business. He is helping actively with the modernisation of the vineyard and is working on the marketing of Brunot family wines, both in France and abroad.
This is the level at which serious claret really starts to shine. A real taste of the terroir with a lovely gravelly attack followed by austere fruit and good length.
