Reine Juliette
It all started with Picpoul de Pinet. Picpoul is the variety, Pinet the area, and when we started shipping Domaine Reine Juliette's interpretation of this underrated classic a few years ago, we were met with surprise at the winery. The talk was that the English would not drink such an obscure wine. We have proved them wrong and are delighted to report excellent sales. With the 2007 vintage of this wine being the best we have tasted yet, we expect even more success.
The rosé too has been popular with its strawberry flavours and vivid colour and along with the new-to-our-list Sauvignon Muscat, we think it is going to be a hit again this year.
Domaine Reine Juliette is situated in the small town of Pomerols in the Languedoc region of southern France. The estate is located on the Via Domitia, the main Roman road linking Italy to Spain, along which viticulture was introduced to the Languedoc. The Domaine name is derived from a Queen Juliette who is reputed to have given her name to the site following her visit there.

£8.45Possibly the perfect white wine for drinking with fish, this dry French classic comes from the deep South of France.
-
2007 Sauvignon Muscat Reine Juliette
£8.45An unusual blend but none the worse for it combining two bright floral varieties. Dry but full of rich fruitiness.
-
2008 Domaine Reine Juliette Syrah Rose
£8.45Mid-pink in colour and with an attractive strawberry nose. A dry, classic styled wine from the South of France.
-
2005 Cabernet Merlot Domaine Reine Juliette
£8.45Although "just" a Vin de Pays, the fruit concentration and tannin structure are really grown up and sophisticated. This is a serious red wine in the style of a claret.
