Chateau du Donjon

Donjon; family, a passion.

Since the 15th century, the Panis-Mialhe family has been involved in viticulture. The process of combining respect for traditional values with modern techniques has been refined over generations.

In 1996, Jean Panis both harvests his first vintage and meets Caroline who becomes fully involved in the vineyard and who, in 2003, she gave him a beautiful daughter, Camille.

An imposing, confident man, Jean radiates energy and vitality.

The Château du Donjon is in Bagnoles in the south of France six miles from the medieval city of Carcassonne.

During winter, visitors to the vineyard can see the snow-tipped peaks of the Pyrenees. The vineyard is located on the terroir of Clamoux, on the cusp of the zone in which the Mediterranean climate meets the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Comprising clay-limestone slopes and gravelly terraces, the soil boasts AOPs (the old appellation control) Minervois and Cabardès.

Oh, and the wines are really nice; our trade customers love them.
