Bodegas Alconde is a small, old cooperative of growers around the town of Lerin in Navarre Northern Spain. We have enjoyed their red wines very much and recently put together an order of some of the more obscure references with which to tantalise our customers. The first wine to feature is a pure Graciano (a grape!) called X01 for some reason. Relatively unknown as a non-blended wine you’ll probably have drunk some inadvertently as part of a Rioja blend in the past. Here it is showcased alone and is a rare chance to experience it’s true character. Relatively light bodied, it might remind of Pinot Noir visually but without any of the farmyard smells on the nose. Palate is subtle, very refined and smooth.
