Fitou les Terrugues
Very small production from old Carignan vines in the deep South of France.
The vineyard is called Parcelle B738; very catchy and with a mostly Schistous soil.
Followers of my ramblings will know that I don’t personally choose to drink big lumpy reds favouring finesse over power.
However, wines like this show that it is possible to have weight, punch and power combined with elegance, complexity and acid balance.
Oh, and spice. Did I mention spice?
For a treat I’d definitely take one fo these home.
And it’s £20.00 a bottle for a rare and important wine.
The first ten customers who order a sealed six this week will pay just £12.99 a bottle.
Be quick.
