This excellent producer in Udine Italy provides us with many of our lovely and commercial Pinots Grigio but in a deliberate and concerted move upmarket, they have rebranded their premium Casali Roncali range and invested heavily in quality upgrades.

The Chardonnay you see before you is the latest example to join the linea and represents a showcase for Chardonnay’s capacity to reflect terroir, or the impression of place that some wines deliver.

Deceptively soft and light on the initial palate before deepening and widening as you swirl it around. No oak but conveying a herby butteriness all the same.
